SLING BACK SUMMER BOOTIES

One thing I love about living in southern California is that the fashion lines are blurred when it comes to  age.  I remember reading my magazines, (like last week) and flipping to the "at any age" page. When I was in my 20's and 30's, I often would relate to 2 or 3 pieces in the 40's photo spread. Now that I'm in my 40's I often feel slighted at the selection offered for my age group and above.
I search the page and look for at least one item in the super tiny "70's & up" photo spread that I could wear.
Can't do it.
 Not goin out like that.
I am going to wear what I like and jump on some trends along the way. That's who I am, that's my STYLE. So don't judge, I'm going to make some hideous mistakes and possibly invoke a few
 "no she di-int"s.
Don't worry, my choices will always be *GUILT FREE*, like these fun summer booties I nabbed for 35$ at BOBBI ROCCO.

PETER PILOTTO FOR TARGET

So, as soon as I saw this dress featured in People Style Watch a few months back, I shared it with my friend and co-worker Erin. We locked eyes and said "YES". Erin is a seasoned veteran when it comes to braving designer collaboration debuts. She's seen it all from waiting hours on end and leaving empty handed, to damn near fist fighting to grab that coveted size 8. I knew I was in good hands when the day before she presented printed copies of the lookbook with color coded pens highlighting looks and sizes in order of priority.

After obsessing for a full four hours the night before, we headed out to brave the crowd at 630 am. We rolled up to a quiet parking lot and spotted another car with 3 girls staying warm, but clearly ready to run if necessary. When we walked up to the doors an hour before opening, we found only one couple having coffee, holding court, chatting, friendly, not agressive...

Cut to an hour later, the doors open, and Erin and I break into a sprint pulling ahead of the 7 other women waiting. A security guard tells us to stop running, but the adrenalin is too much- I try and remember Erins words "grab a 6,8, and 10 of everything on the list" "6,8,10" "6,8,10". GOT IT! It's over and done in 3 mins and we are hyperventilating and grinning at each other.

It was fun, and Peter Pilotto (though no one showed up) is an amazing designer that clearly thought out the design and fabric of each piece for this collection! We both got the pieces we wanted and now have a tiny slice of fashion history in our closets.

LULLABY BAXTER BABY

It was 100 years ago. There was a full harvest moon and 5 young girls. The night sky was thick with the scent of Camel cigarettes and the taste of rainblo gumballs. They harmonized an equally sweet n sour rendition of Sade's "Is It a Crime" at the top of their lungs over and over until they were satisfied with a giggle free flawless performance.

Now one of those girls is a woman in the midst of an indigogo campaign with a super talented pianist.
They are   Lullaby Baxter (vocals, drums) and Robinson St. George (piano).
The plan is to raise enough funds to work full-time putting the finishing touches on 20-songs. Ultimately they will narrow down the top 12 choices and complete the recording of what promises to be an amazing album called L'Heure De L'etoile. I'm not going to describe, the music. Just close your eyes and listen...unless your a visual person like me, then just keep your eyes open and try to do two things at once.

If you are looking to contribute to a valuable piece of musical history, click on this. They have already raised over $6000 and need to keep the momentum going. If you contribute even as little as $1.00 you will recieve a thought via telepathy. For real, try it.
