BLACK MODEL, BLACK HISTORY

Renauld White became the first black male to grace the cover of GQ's November issue in 1979.
He made waves with his demands of equal representation in the industry and landed several high profile contracts because of it.
DONNA KARAN, YVES ST. LAURENT, ARMANI, VALENTINO, RALPH LAUREN.
Exactly 20 years later, Richard Leacock flew into California with a modelling Visa and a dream. Thanks for your revolutionary moves Mr. White.
We salute you.

BLACK HISTORY, BLACK MODEL

It was July 27th 1961 and Madamoiselle magazine's annual
college issue had just hit the stands. There were make up and fashion tips.
There were ads and photo spreads. There   were white models and black models
....wait, pump the brakes.
There were white models and Willette Murphy.
A 22 year old UCLA economics major snuck up on consumers and elegantly
did her thing. It was a FIRST. Because Willette bravely
walked her walk 52 years ago, my friend Tina and I were able to recreate
the shoot on a busy, sunny morning and not have any onlookers bat an eye.
Thanks Ms. Murphy, we salute you.

PRABAL GURUNG FOR TARGET

Prabal Gurung For Target® Short-Sleeve Dress in First Date Print About a week ago, a friend mentioned that she was going to brave the early morning lineup to grab some Prabal Gurung loot at the local Target and asked if I was interested.  We oohed and aaahed over her IPHONE as she walked me through the lookbook.  As our discussion evolved into a full critique of all design houses that have collaborated with chain stores in the past ten years, we both decided that Gurung's line was going to be worth it.

Quelle surprise! New rolling racks with fresh merchandise! With my son lending an honest eye, I picked my faves and tried them on.

Here is my review, the peplum top is gorgeous and the black trim grounds the sweetness of the floral. The black and white full skirt is cute, well constructed, and right on trend. The drop waisted floral felt good against my skin, but the cut is NOT for curvy girls. Finally, the black and floral dress as well as the coral/pool version were BEAUTIFUL!
They fit well, and I felt pretty.
It's worth going on line to at least check it out at $39.99 it's "guilt free style" at its best.

IF KIM WAS A...

SHIMMERY ACCENT PILLOW

This look on Kim (if nothing else) is inspiring. In a world full of "P.O.C"'s**, I find comfort in the reliability of neutrals and metallics. If you do too, check out this "guilt free style" option in the form of
this decadent accent from Z GALLERIE for $69.95. I know it's an investment for a pillow, but trust me, a gold sequined romper costs much more and probably is an investment that only 1% of us should ever make.
