OVER THE KNEE

If you think you can't wear over-the-knee boots, think again. Street style superstar Miroslava Duma is just 5 feet tall. Her tricks to pulling them off like a pro? A slim pair of denim to show off the shape of the leg and a top that doesn't cover or hide her waistline. Steer clear of shapeless shifts and oversize toppers that will hide your proportions.

Miroslava Duma added some serious wow factor to a soft sweater with over-the-knee boots.
I am so obsessed with Miroslava Duma. She has amazing style and an amazing business. I especially love how Miro (Can I call you Miro? Good, because I have an entire pinterest page dedicated to you and it's called 'Miro')   Anyways, I found these grey suede over the knee boots on www.shopstyle.com and created a "sale alert". Basically, they will alert me when they go down from the already great price of $80. When they do, I am going to get them...wish me luck. It will be my third attempt at this look. The first purchase was in the late nineties-I returned from a trip to New York with pink satin Nike high-tops and burnt orange suede over the knee boots with a black lighting bolt shaped stretchy fabric that ran up the sides. The second purchase was here in L.A. at DSW. It was the last stop in an all day commitment with my husband and child to find the perfect pair. We were tired and I was not thinking straight when I thought the weird round toe tip that curled up to the sky was cute. THIRD TIME'S A CHARM...RIGHT? Whatever the outcome, it will be 100% #guiltfreestyle.
P.S. I EQUALLY ADORE STYLE PANTRY'S FOLAKE HUNTOON. SHE IS EVERYTHING.

FALLING STAR

So, this outfit was inspired by the EPIC FALL I had last night. Yes, it was the kind that you see re-mixed on You Tube. Hopefully this huge scarf can act as a makeshift neck brace as I approach my 8 hour shift. Had know idea two posts in to "FOUR TIMES ELEVEN" I'd be feeling like "EIGHT TIMES ELEVEN".

DOUBLE DENIM

Somedays I look in the mirror and a conversation will unfold like this

me:"What should I wear today?"
my reflection: "You look great, don't change!"
me: "Are you sure I can still rock this? I'm WELL into my 4th decade."
my reflection: "Well...I DID see that in a SEVENTEEN magazine last week"
me: "Oh no, I don't want to look like I'm trying too hard. No, you know what? Who cares?! I'm wearing it!"
my reflection: "I don't think I like your tone..."

So now I'm going to document a few looks here and there that I either feel confident wearing at ALMOST (ugh) 44, or not so confident but wearing anyways. I'm calling it FOUR TIMES ELEVEN and I hope you enjoy. Here's a look I think can work for a lot of women. Denim on denim does not have to be as frightening as it was in the 80's. Just make sure you mix colors. Here I chose a traditional blue jean jacket with black skinnies.
PS The jacket is 20 yrs old, one bonus of getting older is vintage shopping in your closet:)

LUSCIOUS LUDACRIS LOUIS

These boots are unbelievable.
They are so unbelievably impractical and so unbelievably beautiful. They are most definitely what I adore most about art. I love to see opposites attract, I've based entire series on it. Call me crazy, but a rainstorm seems boring now without the thought of someone, somewhere, maneuvering their way through in these

These "Kendra" boots from Bebe are the "guilt free style" option at $189Side note- add these boots to tights, t-shirt and cape for an instant super hero halloween costume.

FRONT STREET FASHION

Okay, so I'm having one of those days. I woke up with a long list of "to do's" and not a whole lot of energy. Nevertheless, as the mother of a 5 year old boy, I had to push through the lack of inspiration and start the day.
After getting my daily dose of caffeine, I began my short walk home waiting for the effects to kick in. In the distance I caught a glimpse of this fantastic silhouette. As she approached I was hoping that she had a welcoming smile to match her great look.  And she didn't disappoint.  Her earphones said "don't bother me", but her outfit said "stop and talk to me".
I listened to her outfit.

Her favorite piece is this cheerful cross-body bow bag from Urban Outfitters from about 3 years ago.
Shop this look "guilt free".

FRONT STREET FASHION

Meet Cindy.
This lovely lady never disappoints. She has shown me the true meaning of style. Wear what you like, and invest in some quality pieces, your signature look will soon fall into place. Great custom made items like these long leather gloves will never go out of style. She also has to take many of her items to be tailored as it's hard to find the PERFECT FIT off the rack.
I wanted to capture her on one of the most miserable weather days (torrential down-pours and gusting winds) to show you can still put your best foot forward.
p.s. A PRADA tote doesn't hurt either
DO IT. LOVE IT.

COUNTRY COME TO TOWN

Every busy girl needs a hot pair of wellies. After a 6 month search, I have finally found a comfortable fashionable pair of rubber boots (pictured on the right) that can easily stand up to the sought after "Hunter"s (above)! They are 14.5" in height, which is slightly less than the Hunter. Perfect for women of all heights! For a third of the price of Hunter's, you can walk down to your nearest ALDO ACCESSORIES store a nab a pair of these gorgeous boots for $45.00. Available in Hunter Green (wink) and Black. Shout out to my wet weather Vancouver people. DO IT, LOVE IT.
