FRONT STREET FASHION

Although there was a language barrier, there was not a style barrier between us.
It took probably a bit too much time to explain what I wanted to do (take her picture) and why I wanted to do it (thought she looked cute).
But, when she finally realized I was harmless (after cooing over her vintage Coach bag), she went from deadpan to "this is my good side".

GUILT FREE HEAD TO TOE

This beauty (named Abby) was the first girl to catch my eye at the launch party for the Hip and Urban Girl's Guide website launch party.  And when I leaned in to do a little schmoozing, I found out she is the epitomy of "Guilt Free Style".  Her fun floral dress was a purchase from one of my favorite haunts- Winners.  Her bracelets and jewellery are all vintage finds. The pièce de résistance was her acid washed crossbody/shoulder bag that she (get this) has held onto since the ripe age of SIX years old!!!!!!

Super sweet she was!  We can all take a page out of her book and think twice about discarding everything and anything. I'm not promoting hoarding, but if something is special to you (really special) hold on a little longer and it will be a treasure one day.
DO IT LOVE IT.

FRONT STREET FASHION

Meet Cheryl.
This amazing full-time stay at home mother of two is always energetic and smiling.  She manages to get her kids fed, ready, and looking adorable for the daily stroller walk up to school. She greets all the other parents and kids with a smile and charming conversation, all the while carrying off her "city comfort chic" sense of style.
A true believer in shopping "guilt free", Cheryl has found many amazing vintage cocktail dresses online and perusing local markets.
I ADORE women like Cheryl.
When she showed up to one of the kids birthday costume parties in a gorgeous pink chiffon number, I immediately smiled and wished I had done the same!  It was a reminder that even when I'm tired, busy, and have a "to do" list as long as the Great Wall of China...
I can always throw on a gown and feel beautiful.
DO IT. LOVE IT.

ST. LAWRENCE MARKET VINTAGE FINDS

As I prepare to relocate to sunny Los Angeles, I find myself really appreciating all that Toronto has to offer.
And by 'offer' I, of course, mean 'spend money on'.
St. Lawrence Market area is the best place to spend a lazy Sunday afternoon.  Brunch at Le Petit Dejeuner,  coffee at Lettieri, and of course the Vintage shopping  at the market.

The last time I peeked my head in was on a Thursday afternoon (that way I can preview before the weekend crowds), and I spotted quite a few gems.

Including a Todd Oldham faux fur jacket for %50 off. An insanely "80's" (in a good way)  fitted peplum leather jacket for $25, and Seven for all Mankind jeans (size 28) for $35!

Now is the time to hit up the vintage shops for cashmere and jackets, everyone's thinking ahead to spring, and we'll all be ready to set the trends for next fall.

DO IT. LOVE IT.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO BE A STAR, BABY...

Posted by Picasa

Every now and then I fall in love with a fantasy item that does not logically fit anywhere into my world.  This OTT white faux fur from Rihanna's new video put me under a spell.

I was beyond thrilled when I spotted this vintage look-a-like at Antiques of St. Lawrence! (92 Front  St. East)

I held my breath, closed my eyes and searched for the yellow tag...75.00$. Love it.

Now all I need is a recording contract and a time machine.

STARBUCKS ADJACENT

It's a sleepy Sunday morning and you need a pick-me-up.
If I told you that a comfortable cafe with great coffee,
gorgeous friendly staff,
beautiful contemporary art, (http://www.rowenasart.com/
tables outside,
vip in the back corner,
and Dufflet pastries existed,
would you believe me?

Well, Lettieri on Front is all that and more. The people watching is incredible!  The St. Lawrence Market area is surprisingly crawling with a full range of fashionistas (and a few fashion don'ts).  Lettieri is stylish AND family friendly, often a hard combination to find.

ANTIQUES AT THE ST. LAWRENCE

Please, please, please, drag yourself out of bed on a Sunday morning and check out the vintage finds at the St. Lawrence Market.  My girl who runs the store on the southwest corner, is passionate about finding good homes for her amazing finds.  I live in my vintage raybans and this red chain strap, quilted leather purse!

I know she has a couple of raybans stowed away in the back for $75 each. Get em' before they disappear.
