DESTINATION LUXE

So, after living the fabulous "guilt-free" life for a couple of years now, I think I deserve some of that good old fashion indulgence. You know the kind where you just close your eyes and say YES.
Dust off your emergency credit card and follow me to the lovliest stretch of shops in Sherman Oaks on Ventura between Hazeltine and Woodman .

Indulge
We're starting at Inventori for inspiration. Walking into this store, you're instantly transported to a quaint little shop that feels like your someplace special. There's something for everyone here, so if you're a mother (like me) you can buy a few decadent things for yourself, and then promptly pat yourself on the back for thoughtfully picking out an adorable gift for your child.  There's lavish bath and body products, cute books and toys, and the selection of soy based candles are begging to be picked up and smelled
-each and every one.
And that's only on one side of the store. On the other side, you'll find that perfect home accent that you'd been looking for, and furniture that would add an ecclectic compliment to any decor.

Now we're hungry and we're going to check out Sweet Butter next door. We're going to sit out in the sun and lounge over a couple of vegetarian "yoga girl" sandwiches before we continue on.

Next stop Belle Gray.
Get ready to do some damage in here, because this store is designed for the woman who adores the full process of shopping. There's nothing like a chandelier to bring things to another level. Ok, we've got the "IT" dress from Black Halo and a little gem from House of Harlow,   now it's time to relax.

Keep up with me, we're getting our faces airbrushed to perfection next door at Eleanor Jean. Oh, and of course, we'll each have "The Debutante" mani pedi.

Happy? Check.
Beautiful? Check.
Guilt-free?
...ummmm, let's find somewhere fab and discuss it over cocktails.

EUROPEAN WEEKEND ESSENTIALS

So you've got the opportunity to get away for a weekend.

Be it Munich, New York, Toronto, or Vancouver. I've put together a basic group of things that will help alleviate the stress of what to wear and help you concentrate on having a great time.

First let me say, enjoy those cocktails (cheers), but have a glass of water to every drink and you'll be less likely to end up somewhere you don't want to be.

Next, bring your music for the plane. Even though you're about to twirl the weekend away, other people are travelling with babies.  They're adorable, but not always as seasoned in the travel department as the rest of us. Don't complain, just drown it out and smile!

And please, invest in a great eye creme, it will make all the difference while you're on your trip and also when you've got to return to the real world.

When in doubt, go black.
It's classic and timeless and no matter what the trend or price point, you look like a million bucks.

PINK LADY

I'm not superkeen on candy colored looks from head to toe. However, I am extremely excited to pull my pastel pink lady-like structured bag out of storage this spring!

Shop your closet and see if you've hung on to anything pastel for spring.
If not, check out this bodycon dress from TOPSHOP for the younger ladies.
And for my mature dolls try this lilac structured bag from Melie Bianco for $96.

IF KIM WAS A...

SLEEK CONTEMPORARY STUDIO.

Charcoal grey is the quickest way to update an outfit OR living space.

And after an entire childhood of rebelling against it, I've fully embraced the power of a little punch of pink against a neutral palette.

There's been alot of buzz around the artist Deborah Bowness who is responsible for the interesting hand-printed bookshelf wallpaper pictured above. I love her work but also thought wall decals can be chic in a room as well. Like the Keith Haring Pack of Dogs piece for around $30.
Also featured in this post the arden b. dress

IF KIM WAS A...

If Kim was a fabulous piece of art, she would definitely be an abstract with lots of texture. Just like this larger than life statement piece by the artist ROWENA.  Her experimental blonde hair color mimics the many hues found in background of this piece. And both provide an excellent neutral that supports the bold choice of color.
The dress and the art would surely be the main focus of any cocktail party.

AKIRA CHICAGO online offers this sexy alternative for $89.
Forever 21 offers this cute zipper clutch for $19.

BAND-AID

Alexander Wang is no doubt a BRILLIANT designer

As you can see, his lovely bandeau dress for $795 is clearly a knockout(EVEN THOUGH THE MODEL LOOKS HUNGRY AND ANGRY).
I am here to tell you that for about $30 you can achieve the same look with this color block dress from where else? Forever 21.

Ladies, I can speak first hand. I am a lady well over the age of 20 and tried this on 'sans' spanx, and this dress was slammin!  All of my jiggly bits were well camoflauged.

 DO IT LOVE IT.

DON'T HATE ME CUZ I'M BEAUTIFUL

Every now and again Forever 21 hits the nail on the head, and you find something that is not only cute and cheap, but well constructed. Totally comparable to the Alice and Olivia bubble dress (pictured below for $396usd), this little satin and tulle number ($27.80cad) spoke to me! When I answered,  it lovingly replied back- "Maybe 20 yrs ago honey".  So this is for my young dolls who are going to be up til breakfast time.
