HEAL HEEL

Without divulging too much information, let me just say, well, my feet were in need of some "special" attention this spring.  I made the call and the new REVLON PEDI EXPERT answered.  This little thing is amazing. I picked one up on sale for $8 at Shoppers Drug Mart (reg retail $16) and   after a following the super easy instructions, my feet felt like they haven't in years. I'm talking pre-motherhood feet.

HIGH HEEL BOOT CAMP

For those of you who have issues with being comfortable in a great stiletto, or simply have a love of shoes, this class is for you.  In a just a few hours, Marian will whip you into high heel top formation.  Honestly, between her soothing voice and the Feldenkrais Method of body re-education, it's an experience that won't soon be forgotten. The most amazing thing about this class for me was how in shape and youthful our teacher Marian is.

SATC 2 REVIEW

So I was one of many lucky fans of  Sex and the City in the crowd last night at the premiere in downtown Toronto Varsity Theater.  In the gift bags pictured were lots of goodies courtesy of our friends at Trojan and Nair, thank you!!

The girls of Sex and the City 2 did NOT disappoint this time.  The outfits were beyond over the top and even the scenes spilling over with cheese had me laughing at one point or the other.  

Favorite scene- Charlotte and Miranda spilling their mommy secrets over drinks.

Favorite throwback- Carrie in the same Dior newspaper dress from Season 3.

Favorite Guest Star- Liza Minnelli doing a great tribute to Beyonce.

Favorite Hot Man- Max Ryan

I don't need to break down the characters, they were all the same.  However, I (as well as a jam packed audience of female fans) was very appreciative of the beautiful men that peppered the movie throughout.  And now, of course, I want to go to Abu Dhabi.

My only disappointment of the night was there was only one lonely pair of  Brian Atwood Loca's wandering the streets afterwards...

CUPCAKE CRAVINGS

Remember when you tasted your first cupcake? 

I do, and ever since, there's been an ongoing joke in my family about my (sometimes more serious than others) addiction to a great cupcake.

I've been chasing that luscious sweet taste for years, and have only been able to replicate it a few times myself. I found a close second at Magnolia Bakery in NYC, but when I received a lovely packaged gift of two recently for mother's day, I knew I had found what I was looking for in Maylenes Cravings.

I bit into the first cupcake and was immediately taken back to my childhood birthday parties and barbecues, a happy, happy time.

Yes, I know it's just a cupcake, and yes, I know it's not always "guilt-free", but forgive me for having the occasional weakness for the sweeter things in life.

Meet Cheryl.

 This amazing full-time stay at home mother of two is always energetic and smiling.  She manages to get her kids fed, ready, and looking adorable for the daily stroller walk up to school. She greets all the other parents and kids with a smile and charming conversation, all the while carrying off her "city comfort chic" sense of style. 

A true believer in shopping "guilt free", Cheryl has found many amazing vintage cocktail dresses online and perusing local markets.
I ADORE women like Cheryl.

 When she showed up to one of the kids birthday costume parties in a gorgeous pink chiffon number, I immediately smiled and wished I had done the same!  It was a reminder that even when I'm tired, busy, and have a "to do" list as long as the Great Wall of China...

I can always throw on a gown and feel beautiful.

Okay, so I'm having one of those days. I woke up with a long list of "to do's" and not a whole lot of energy. Nevertheless, as the mother of a 5 year old boy, I had to push through the lack of inspiration and start the day.  

After getting my daily dose of caffeine, I began my short walk home waiting for the effects to kick in. In the distance I caught a glimpse of this fantastic silhouette. As she approached I was hoping that she had a welcoming smile to match her great look.  And she didn't disappoint.  Her earphones said "don't bother me", but her outfit said "stop and talk to me".

I listened to her outfit.

INKY QUIRKY SITTING ROOM

 How does she do it? 

 The same way the talented designer of this quaint moody living space has done it. Keep the color palette minimal and add tons of texture.  I am a huge fan of saturated color, but have recently renewed my love of basic black. I can't wait to dip into a can of dark charcoal paint for my new home.
