GREEN NINJA PARTY *GUILT FREE STYLE*

You can fulfill your childs dreams  of a theme party without getting sucked into the merchandising vortex.  When my son returned from his buddies party a few weeks ago with a smile and a goody bag, I asked him if he had fun and he said "yeah-yaah". He left the party knowing that his friend loved the Regular Show, but not weighed down by all things "Mordecai and Rigby". I decided then, that just because my son is obsessed with all things Ninjago, doesn't mean I have to spend my entire check on things for his party. I took a page out of our friends book and simply nodded to the character of the moment... the GREEN NINJA.
All things green, all things DIY, all things dollar store.
DO IT. LOVE IT.

Dollar store gumball machines filled with Skittles.

Rice Krispy Sushi with swedish fish and fruit roll-ups.
My son doesn't do cake, so marshmallows and a little yellow and green food coloring...
The healthy choices were just as popular as the indulgent ones.

GUILT FREE BEACH HOUSE BIRTHDAY

I WAS SO EXCITED when my brother asked me to pull together some fun birthday decorations for my niece's 8th birthday at the beach house. I have been fortunate enough to spend her last two birthdays with her and she holds a special place in my heart as I carried my son at the same time my sister carried her:)

Now, mushiness aside, here comes the "Guilt Free" style part. Everything at the purple and orange afternoon pool party was under $20.

Balloons were $1 at the dollar store. Beet and Poppy tissue paper for the paper pom poms are from Paper Source $2.95 each. Purple and Orange Gum Balls were from Party City $2.99 each. Birthday Banner upcycled from Paper Source shopping bags, free! Lunch bags for treats from the dollar store $1.

Printable labels for treat bags from Paper Source $5.95 and straws from the dollar store $1.
Paper flags for straws were made from the remains of the poppy labels!
